Keep in mind that in order to achieve the greatest impact, every cover letter you write should be customized to reflect the situation, company and position. Also, the image and information conveyed by your cover letter should be consistent with your resume. In other words, use your resume as an information pool from which to draw from and put in your cover letter. In this cover letter I will use the information from the sample resume, and apply for a Production Assistant Position.

Dear Ms. McBride:

I am very interested in the Production Assistant position advertised in (insert the location of where you found their employment opportunity. For example a job hotline, on a website etc.) on Wednesday, December 12, 20--. With more than 4 years of experience in a variety of positions relevant to the entertainment industry, I feel that I would be an excellent candidate.

My resume is enclosed summarizing where my skills and abilities have been developed. I have received a degree as a 35mm photographer, I have worked as a demolition and construction laborer and I have researched and compiled information in an office relevant to the tasks determined by my previous employer. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my background with you further at your convenience.

Sincerely,

John Doe.
